The independent provider of health and social care services is to open a new 31-bed service in Staffordshire by the summer.
Cygnet Health Care, an independent provider of health and social care services for young people and adults, intends to open Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove in Staffordshire to support women who need emergency mental health support and specialist rehabilitation.
The new 31 bed service will have two wards; Crocus Ward, for acute admissions and Burleigh Ward, a highly specialised personality disorder service. Both wards will aim to treat women in a safe and comfortable environment and support them to safely progress along their recovery journey.
“Stoke-on-Trent has higher rates of mental ill-health than the country average; a gap that has been widening over the past decade. The addition of this new service in the region will support women struggling with their mental health,” explains Victor Mudarikwa, the group’s operations director for the region.
The hospital will open in the summer.
Founded in 1988, Cygnet is a subsidiary of US hospital and healthcare services firm Universal Health Services which acquired it for £205 million in 2014.
