The hospital operator has opened the £1.8 million outpatient centre to provide care for women and children.

US-owned private hospital operator HCA Healthcare has opened The Portland Hospital Outpatient Centre in Hale, Greater Manchester.

An extension of London’s Portland Hospital, the only private hospital in the country dedicated to care for women and children, the £1.8 million outpatient centre provides care for women at every life stage.

The outpatient centre is part of the existing HCA UK North West network, which includes The Wilmslow Hospital in Cheshire and The Christie Private Care in Manchester.

Services and facilities offered at the new outpatients’ centre include consultations for pregnancy, fertility and gynaecology, women’s physiotherapy, midwife and consultant clinics and menopause specialists.

The centre has three consultation rooms and four ultrasound rooms.

“This enables more women in the region to access elements of the specialist expert care The Portland Hospital is known for, closer to their homes,” said Jane Whitney-Smith, chief executive of HCA UK’s The Portland Hospital.
