The latest innovations in healthcare, including an embedded e-prescribing partnership, a virtual GP referral pathway, and a new network of walk-in mental health hubs.
Evaro partners with Patient.info to embed live prescription services into health content
NHS-licensed digital healthcare platform Evaro has partnered with health information platform Patient.info to integrate an asynchronous consultation and prescription service into its clinical content. This allows the site’s visitors to transition from researching symptoms to accessing clinician-reviewed treatments without navigating away from the page.
The partnership initially launches across pain management, migraine, hay fever, weight loss, erectile dysfunction and dental infections, with plans to expand into additional medical conditions. NHS-registered clinicians review every submission before issuing a prescription, with treatments fulfilled via next-day delivery in most cases. Evaro holds CQC and GPhC registrations, and its system integrates with NHS infrastructure to access GP patient records for clinical safety checks.
The partnership aims to address growing pressures on UK primary care, where long GP waiting times have driven more patients to seek online health information. By removing the friction of separate appointment bookings and browser redirects, the initiative provides a direct treatment pathway for patients in rural, coastal or underserved communities. The deployment follows Evaro’s recent Series A funding round and existing partnerships with consumer brands including Clue, Lovehoney and U-Test Diagnostics.
“Most people searching their symptoms online have already decided they want to do something about them,” said Thuria Wenbar, chief executive and co-founder of Evaro. “This partnership means that understanding can now lead directly to treatment, without friction, without a detour. That is what healthcare access infrastructure should look like in 2026.”
Ramsay Health Care UK partners with Doctor Care Anywhere to create virtual GP
Hospital group Ramsay Health Care UK has partnered with telehealth provider Doctor Care Anywhere to launch a virtual primary-to-secondary care pathway for self-pay patients. The collaboration combines Doctor Care Anywhere’s virtual GP consultations with direct onward referrals into Ramsay’s network of 34 acute hospitals across the country.
Under the agreement, patients can access video or telephone appointments with UK-registered GPs. When a consultation identifies the need for specialist intervention, the GP can issue a direct referral to Ramsay’s secondary care consultants and hospitals. To maintain clinical continuity, full consultation summaries and medical records will flow between Doctor Care Anywhere’s virtual primary care clinicians and Ramsay’s hospital teams, with options to share data with the patient’s NHS GP upon consent.
The partnership aims to address growing patient demand for digital-first self-pay options while reducing waiting times and fragmented handovers between primary and secondary care settings.
“Doctor Care Anywhere will serve as a primary care entry point, providing our patients with fast, accessible virtual GP consultations – with seamless referrals into Ramsay’s hospitals and specialists where secondary care is needed,” said Ramsay Health Care UK’s chief executive Nick Costa.

Londoners gain direct control over Universal Care Plans via NHS App integration
Patients registered with a GP practice in London can now create and edit their Universal Care Plan (UCP) through the NHS App. Delivered by digital health provider Better in partnership with OneLondon, the integration allows patients to record personal care preferences, daily support needs and non-clinical information.
The updated digital pathway enables patients to view sections authored by clinical staff, increasing record transparency. To prevent patients from repeating their medical history across different settings, UCP data integrates with local electronic record systems, the London Care Record and nationally via the National Record Locator. An early adopter network of 14 London GP practices is currently leading patient outreach through direct invitations and social prescribing routes.
The platform currently hosts more than 97,000 active care plans and receives 30,000 monthly views from healthcare professionals. UCP data indicates that 70% of end-of-life patients using the plan achieved their preferred place of death – compared to the national average of 50–55% – while unplanned hospital admissions were reduced to 30%. Future development plans for the platform include expanding proxy access for parents and carers, integrating NHS Notify, and introducing care planning tools for mental health crisis management, catheter care and complex geriatric assessments.
“Enabling patients to write their own Universal Care Plans in the NHS App accelerates the path towards a more personalised health and care system,” said Ian Bennett, senior product specialist at Better. “The Universal Care Plan is about ensuring that patients’ wishes and preferences are accessible to the right clinicians at the right time.”

VitVio expands global access to 3D-native AI platform
Boston-based healthtech developer VitVio has launched global access to Vetro, its 3D-native AI platform designed to provide real-time operational intelligence inside hospital operating rooms. Following initial deployments across health systems in New York, Los Angeles and London, access to the technology is now being expanded across the UK, Europe, the US, Latin America and the Middle East.
Unlike traditional 2D systems or manual logging, Vetro uses multi-camera ambient sensing and computer vision to stream spatial data into VitVio’s proprietary spatial context engine. The platform automatically builds real-time 3D maps of the operating theatre and turns the movement of personnel, instruments and surgical equipment into structured digital records. The system automates routine tasks – such as tracking case start and end times, flagging delays, orchestrating surgical staff, rationalising tool usage and generating operative notes – to reduce administrative burden and optimise theatre turnaround.
All visual data is anonymised at the point of capture through automatic face-blurring and privacy shielding. Early deployment data shows that unlocking one additional hour of operating suite availability can increase annual theatre profitability, with adopting hospitals seeing overall operational margin improvements of up to 23% depending on facility and procedure type. The broader international rollout follows VitVio’s multi-site NHS partnership with the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the completion of its $8 million Seed funding round.
“We’ve spent two years building out Vetro to work under real pressure, in real operating rooms,” said Thomas Knox, co-founder and chief executive of VitVio. “Now it’s time to bring the impact our early partners are seeing to hospitals and health systems around the world.”

Scottish mental health charity launches network of walk-in support hubs
Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) has launched Scotland’s first national network of drop-in mental health support centres, using a digital infrastructure platform developed by UK healthtech company Dr Julian.
Known as The Nook, the service provides open-access mental health support across its initial locations in Glasgow and Aberdeen, with additional regional hubs planned for rollout.
Designed to remove barriers to early intervention, the hubs operate without wait lists, formal NHS referrals, or the requirement for advance appointment bookings. The underlying Dr Julian technology functions as a digital gateway for the initiative. The software allows service users to schedule visits if preferred, complete digital intake forms and access personalised care plans, psychoeducation modules and self-help wellbeing tools before and after face-to-face consultations.
Operationally, the software supports SAMH staff by coordinating appointment schedules, managing clinical capacity, and providing visibility into service engagement across sites. The partnership reflects an increasing shift toward hybrid community care models, combining walk-in clinical environments with digital self-management tools to alleviate pressure on primary and secondary mental health services.
“Too often, people struggle to access mental health support due to long waits and complex referral pathways,” said Julian Nesbitt, founder of the Dr Julian platform. “The Nook is changing that with a simple, community-based model where people can access compassionate support when they need it.”

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust streamlines sonography
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust has completed a sonography workflow integration across three of its acute hospitals in partnership with clinical digital transformation specialist Health Net Connections Ltd (HNC).
The project deployed and upgraded the ViewPoint 6 ultrasound reporting and workflow management platform across Broomfield Hospital, Basildon Hospital, and Southend University Hospital.
Delivered in two phases over a three-week period, the implementation expanded ViewPoint 6 into Broomfield Hospital’s Antenatal Clinic and Maternity Unit, upgraded Basildon Hospital from ViewPoint 5 across its foetal medicine, maternity and early pregnancy units, and replaced a legacy system at Southend University Hospital. The rollout introduced an automated order management workflow using inbound and outbound HL7 messaging to link ViewPoint 6 directly with third-party electronic patient record systems.
The centralised digital platform automates patient data exchange and report distribution, eliminating manual data re-entry and reducing clinical system switching for sonographers and obstetricians. The platform also includes built-in analytics and audit capabilities to support clinical governance and professional reporting standards.
“ViewPoint 6 has significantly streamlined the collaboration and workflow between the screening ultrasound department and the foetal medicine units,” said Olivia Ionescu, consultant in foetal medicine and obstetrics at Broomfield Hospital. “It has brought a noticeable difference to our day-to-day practice, saving us time and removing all the inaccuracies we used to face when we used different systems to report scan findings.”

Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire opens applications for final 2026 accelerator cohort
Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire has opened applications for its final accelerator cohort this year, inviting healthtech SMEs at both start-up and scale-up stages to join a fully funded six-month growth programme. Delivered by Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the initiative aims to help businesses refine, test, and scale clinical innovations across the NHS and wider healthcare system.
The accelerator launched in November last year following a £4.5 million allocation from the West Yorkshire Mayor’s Investment Zone – part of a broader £160 million Investment Zone strategy designed to boost the region’s health and life sciences sector. Over a four-year period, the programme aims to support hundreds of healthtech businesses, driving NHS commercial adoption, regional employment and economic growth.
Selected participants receive a tailored support package, including one-to-one mentoring, regulatory compliance guidance, and direct engagement with NHS trusts, investors and industry partners. Applications are open to both early-stage start-ups and scaling businesses with existing NHS traction, provided they currently hold or are willing to establish an operational presence in West Yorkshire. Applications close on 25 September, with the cohort officially launching in October.
“So far, we’ve seen outstanding examples of how this collaborative, innovation-led programme supports companies to start, scale and embed their products and solutions within our local healthcare system,” said Neville Young, director of enterprise and innovation at Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber. “As we launch our final cohort of 2026, we’re looking forward to welcoming another group of ambitious innovators who share our vision of improving health and care through innovation.”
