The partnership builds on the company’s work that AI-powered MRI scans are cost-effective in clinical pathways and can replace liver biopsies in patients.

Oxford-based medical imaging and AI firm Perspectum has partnered with the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE), part of Kings College London (KCL), to speed up the translation of imaging solutions for metabolic disease and cancer from research to patient care.

Perspectum focuses on precision medicine using advanced imaging, to empower patients and clinicians through quantitative assessments of health enabling early detection, diagnosis, monitoring and targeted treatment.

LIHE is an institute for early-stage companies that are advancing new medical technologies and to solidify this partnership, Perspectum intends to open a London office on-site within LIHE.

“This is the first step on a shared long-term goal of establishing a national centre of excellence for commercialisation of medical devices, and in particular AI-based decision-support software,” said Perspectum chief executive Rajarshi Banerjee.

The partnership builds on the company’s recent paper that suggests that AI-powered MRI scans are cost-effective in clinical pathways and can replace liver biopsies in patients.
