The collaboration between the firms hopes to improve weight loss success with continuous clinical support.
Following its acquisition at the start of the year of Care Quality Pharmacy, Pharmacy2U, Britain’s largest digital pharmacy, is now working with Reset Health, a technology firm that helps patients manage obesity and Type 2 diabetes.
The company hopes that this strategic partnership will provide what it calls “the foundation for a long-term transformational collaboration” in the UK obesity market, delivering end-to-end treatment and care for the growing population using GLP-1 medications.
Launching before the end of the first quarter, Pharmacy2U patients will receive Reset Health’s digitally delivered care alongside their weight management treatment, combining medication with continuous clinical support for better engagement, experience and sustained outcomes.
“We’re at a pivotal moment for the obesity management industry, marked by growing interest in GLP-1 treatments that pair medication with longer-term behavioural and clinical support,” said Pharmacy2U chief executive Kevin Heath.
Studies have shown that patients coming off GLP-1 medications regain weight more rapidly than after dietary interventions alone, in many cases exceeding their original weight. This highlights the need to ensure eligible patients are appropriately retained on GLP-1 medications longer term, with clinical oversight, to ensure they receive wider health benefits and prevent weight fluctuations. Medication licensing also demands that GLP-1 medication for obesity must be delivered alongside dietary, psychological and behavioural support, whilst increasing physical activity, for the best long-term outcomes.
“By combining rapid GLP-1 access with expert clinical wraparound care, we can help patients achieve sustained health benefits and behaviour change that meaningfully enable them in their everyday life,” said Reset Health chief executive Oliver McGuinness.
