The Croyden-based healthcare supply chain firm has acquired digital healthcare specialists Inicio Health – its third acquisition under private equity firm LDC.

Healthcare supply chain firm RDi, which is backed by private equity firm LDC, has acquired digital healthcare specialists Inicio Health.

Financial terms have not been disclosed.

The firm said that by combining RDi’s expertise in self-sampling and testing kits with Inicio Health’s cutting-edge digital interoperability and transformation solutions, the partnership will drive significant advancements in the way people access and engage with healthcare.

Under this new structure, James Davis, co-founder and chief executive of Inicio Health, will join RDi as chief technology officer, while the other founder, Amanda Sparkes, will join RDi as chief clinical officer.

“By bringing our companies together, we are creating a unique end-to-end diagnostics offering allowing the individual, the laboratory and the provider to access testing and information more seamlessly,” said RDi chief executive David Cahill adding that the acquisition would allow the firm to expand its capabilities and enhance patient engagement.

Established in Croydon in 2004, LDC invested in RDi in September 2021

Since LDC’s investment, RDi has expanded significantly. It has increased its headcount from 82 to 130 and revenues have risen from £18 million to £25 million.

Growth has been driven by the acquisition of diagnostic sample collection and transport packaging provider MedDX in 2022, and of biological sample packaging provider Shuttlepac in 2023.

Both acquisitions broadened RDi’s portfolio of healthcare kitting and component capabilities.
