The group’s clinic in Harrogate can now offer same-day magnetic resonance imaging appointments.

Following an investment of £3.5 million in diagnostic technology, Spire Harrogate Clinic can offer up to 4,800 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) appointments a year, to people living in and around the Yorkshire area including same-day appointments where available.

The AI technology delivers higher-quality images and more accurate diagnoses. While the speed of the scanner reduces the amount of time the patient needs to lie still, the increased size of the machine means a larger range of body shapes, sizes and conditions can be scanned for.

In addition to the X-ray and ultrasound services, the new MRI scanner will support general surgery and women’s health, as well as the investigation of orthopaedic, neurology, and urology conditions.

Opened in December 2024, Spire Harrogate Clinic is part of a growing network of new community clinics from Spire Healthcare which complements its 38 hospitals across the country.

The country’s second-largest provider of private healthcare moved further into the occupational health space in April with the acquisition of Cheshire-based Acorn Occupational Health for £3.3 million.
