The multi-year strategic collaboration aims to bring AI-driven clinical decision-making into real-world use at a global scale.

London and San Francisco-based software product platform provider Pangaea Data has signed a multi-year strategic collaboration with AstraZeneca to make AI-driven clinical decision-making available at scale, and to improve how patients are identified, diagnosed, treated and connected to existing therapies and clinical trials.

As part of the collaboration, AstraZeneca will sponsor the configuration, validation, and deployment of Pangaea’s platform.

“We are excited to collaborate with AstraZeneca on this mission to transform care by ensuring that patients are connected to life-changing therapies and trials effectively in a compliant and financially sustainable manner,” said PangaeaData’s founder and chief executive VibhorGupta.

Training and validation

Under the terms of the collaboration, research teams from the two companies will train and validate their existing multimodal models to support clinical trials and point-of-care decisions. Pangaea’s platform will apply its clinical-grade AI to discover untreated, misdiagnosed and under-treated patients at scale, and generate cohorts and insights to inform physicians for patient management. These platform capabilities and their reach will then be further strengthened by its participation in both the NVIDIA Inception and Microsoft Pegasus programs.

The early collaboration with Microsoft includes plans to connect Pangaea’s systems into existing clinical workflows, where it will use ambient listening and agentic AI orchestration to enable real-time, context-aware recommendations at the point of care.

Pangaea’s platform will support the discovery of eligible patients in real time for precision therapies and clinical trials based on guidelines and respective protocols. The platform’s AI will identify and highlight evidence-based treatment (or trial) recommendations and real-time insights within electronic health record systems and workflows, which will help clinicians to improve outcomes in a sustainable manner.
