The private equity firm has taken an undisclosed stake in the private gynaecology practice with plans to grow its practice across London and beyond.
London-based growth-focused private equity firm Phoenix has taken a stake in London Gynaecology, the UK’s largest private gynaecology practice.
Financial terms have not been disclosed.
Husband and wife team Narendra Pisal and Pradnya Pisal founded London Gynaecology in 2010. Based out of Harley Street, the group now employs more than 20 consultants and a team of other expert healthcare professionals across three sites in London.
“This partnership is not about changing who we are; rather, it enables us to step forward toward the future we have envisioned – a stronger group of practices that sees us serving more patients,” said Narendra Pisal.
Phoenix says that it had identified a growing demand for high-quality gynaecology care, due to increasing awareness of women’s health issues and particularly long NHS waiting times. It says that it had its first meeting with the Pisals five years ago.
The private equity firm plans to grow London Gynaecology’s practice network across London and beyond.
The investment was made following the closing of Phoenix’s flagship fund. The firm closed two funds in September. Its Flagship Fund closed with commitments of more than £400 million and its Growth Partnership Fund at £200 million.
Previous healthcare investments include day nursery group Just Childcare and intra-ocular lens developer Rayner Surgical Group while current investments include private pay dental practice Envisage.
