As well as a name change and a new website, the private healthcare provider is gearing up to open its centres in Oxford and Cambridge later this year.

Private healthcare provider OneWelbeck is expanding nationally and has changed its name to Welbeck.

The rebrand to Welbeck follows the organisation’s growth from its flagship facility at 1 Welbeck Street in London to a multi-site healthcare provider, with centres opening in Oxford and Cambridge later this year.

Since opening in 2019, the London centre has focused on minimally invasive day surgery and outpatient diagnostics, partnering with more than 400 leading clinicians and caring for more than 100,000 patients a year across 21 specialist centres of excellence.

Welbeck Oxford is investing more than £30 million to transform a facility at Jordan Hill Business Park. Opening later this year, the centre will deliver 12 specialities including heart health, lung health, digestive health, ENT, endoscopy, neurology, urology, gynaecology and orthopaedics. More than 80 leading clinicians have already partnered with Welbeck Oxford ahead of launch, with around 100 new jobs created.

Welbeck Cambridge is investing £22 million at Unity Campus to create a 32,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art healthcare centre. Also scheduled to open towards the end of the year, the facility will offer more than 15 specialities delivered by a network of more than 120 consultants.

Speaking to Healthcare Today last year, chief executive Andrew Chadwick-Jones said that the firm was looking to build a network of around ten sites across the UK.

“We’re already focusing on places like Oxford and Cambridge, which are both high-growth regions with world-class doctor groups and limited existing hospital provision. We’re also looking at Hampshire and other major hubs, with a view to opening one or two sites a year,” he said.

Substantial expansion

The scale of Welbeck’s expansion this year is substantial. Across its Oxford, Cambridge and London developments, the organisation is investing £100 million, with each regional site creating approximately 100 new jobs.

Both centres follow Welbeck’s model: partnering with leading clinicians who shape treatment pathways and operational decisions, investing in the latest medical technology, and delivering patient-centred care that enables same-day diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

At the same time, Welbeck London is also expanding. Its Dermatology & Allergy centre is moving to an entirely new floor, where it will be Europe’s largest private dermatology facility, complete with mole mapping, patch testing and minor procedures. The Ear, Nose & Throat team will expand as well, opening up more capacity for its audiology services as well as same-day diagnostics and procedures.

The London team is also opening a procedure suite, which will treat patients with chronic pain and other long-term conditions. Finally, there will be a brand new Ophthalmology service launching in September, with a full range of tests and treatments encompassing medical conditions as well as oculoplastic services.

It has also launched a new website to make it easier for patients to access its network of services across London, Oxford and Cambridge.

“Welbeck.com represents Phase One of our commitment to a future of digital engagement, enabling patients to access their healthcare online and be in control of their care with Welbeck,” said Andrew Hutton, chief development officer of Welbeck Health Partners.
