The two weight management companies will benefit from increased efficiencies as a result of the integration, improve health outcomes and reach more people.
Leeds-based weight management company Morelife has been acquired by London-based electronic weight loss company Voy.
Financial terms have not been disclosed.
It is understood that Morelife will maintain operational independence under the acquisition and hopes to benefit from increased efficiencies as a result of the integration. Leveraging Voy’s experience in scaling digital healthcare, the acquisition will enable Morelife to reach more people and support earlier intervention to improve long-term health outcomes and ensure that existing public funds are used in the most effective way possible.
Morelife says that the move will not only bolster the high quality and personalisation of Morelife’s programmes but reduce the pressure on already stretched services.
“Voy’s partnership with Morelife marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of UK healthcare. Together, we have the opportunity to deliver greater capacity for the NHS, broaden access to evidence-based care and positively shape the lives of people living with long-term conditions,” said Voy’s chief medical officer Earim Chaudry.
“As an NHS doctor, I know first-hand the value of fully integrated digital services in ensuring more patients are seen and clinicians are better supported. At Voy, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to feel better and live longer, and this partnership is central to realising that vision at scale,” he continued.
An accelerated mission
Voy’s expertise lies in providing tailored care plans for individuals, supported by a highly personalised digital-first journey. Voy has more than 3,500 distinct, holistic plan variations. It helps patients achieve, on average, a 21.5% weightloss against a 17% average achieved from medication alone.
By combining Morelife’s long-standing public-health care with Voy’s digital innovation, the partnership strengthens the ability to deliver next-generation, technology-enabled pathways for people living with obesity and other chronic conditions.
Together, the organisations aim to increase access to high-quality services and widen their impact so that millions of people living with chronic, preventable conditions can receive the support they need.
Supported by Voy’s capabilities, Morelife says that it will accelerate its mission, aligned with the UK government’s 10 Year Health Plan, to deliver proactive and preventative care, expand capacity for frontline staff and deepen its neighbourhood-based approach to improving population health.
“The 10 Year Health Plan has clearly set out the future of our health system,” said Paul Gately, chief executive of Morelife and Obesity UK.
“With our academic heritage and long-standing commitment to high-quality, innovative delivery, Morelife welcomes this direction. To achieve the scale of change required, partnership is essential and Voy is the ideal organisation to help us deliver on our ambitions and transform outcomes for the communities we serve,” he continued.
